DIEHARD™ Ecto Injectable is formulated to be used to treat mature and newly planted landscape trees and shrubs with live beneficial mycorrhizal fungi with root injection equipment. It contains highly selected species of low host specificity ectomycorrhizal fungi that will quickly colonize the roots of mature and newly planted landscape trees and shrubs. Trichoderma has been added to promote mycorrhizal colonization and prevent fungal diseases. The mycorrhizal inoculants are combined with humic acids, soluble sea kelp, yucca plant extracts and beneficial bacteria to promote rapid root development. To view which plants associate with ecto and endo mycorrhizal fungi go to Plant Species and Type of Mycorrhizae and return here using your "Back" button on your browser.
Mix the contents of each 8 oz. bag with 100 gallons of water. Fertilizers may be added*. Inject on a 2 ½ foot grid pattern ½ gallon of solution per injection site. 8 oz. will treat approximately 2,000 sq. ft. of root zone. The following injection area is suggested:
Method: Measure from the trunk to the drip line (A). Divide this number by 2. Measure from the drip line this amount towards the tree and outward from the drip line and treat this area (B) using a grid pattern. New Transplants: Inject 1 gallon per inch caliper between the original root ball and soil interface in four (4), or more injection sites making sure inoculant is adjacent to the root ball. Containerized & Balled and Burlapped Trees and Shrubs: Inject 1 gallon per inch caliper distributed into four or more injection sites on the outside part of the root ball. (Great application for the wholesale nurserymen to provide his customer a more complete plant.) *Gels too can be added to prolong the effect of solubles in the ground.
